KRAFTWERK / FICTIONAL RENOVATION STUDY

The courtyard
workspace.

An existing ground-floor unit, a new purpose and a clear sequence of decisions.

The starting point.

The illustrative brief is to turn a lightly used unit into a studio with a welcoming entrance, a shared work area and a quieter meeting space.

The priorities are useful circulation, a cohesive material palette and a layout that can adapt as the occupants change.

Decisions before demolition.

  1. Understand the existing space. Record access, dimensions and services; identify the surveys and approvals needed.
  2. Agree the essentials. Separate required work from optional design details and establish the project boundaries.
  3. Coordinate the sequence. Resolve structural and service interfaces before finishes are installed.

A considered finish.

The proposed direction uses restrained surfaces, practical task lighting and defined zones. The aim is a coherent workspace with clear everyday functions.

At handover, the client would review finishes, operation of installed elements, remaining items and available care documentation.
